As budget cuts threaten the future arts programs in public school districts around the country, a group of Jacksonville leaders banded together to make arts a priority in Duval County. In 2013, The Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts in Washington, D.C. made Jacksonville the 14th city to receive “Any Given Child,” an integrative program that works to identify and improve opportunities for school-aged children to receive instruction in the arts.
During the program’s first year, consultants from The Kennedy Center worked with community leaders to conduct a comprehensive audit of arts programs in Duval County. At the conclusion of that process, we partnered with AGC Jacksonville to develop a brand identity, social media campaign, collateral materials and a strategic public relations plan to announce those findings to the public. Through a combination of grassroots marketing, social media and earned media coverage — including stories in the city’s leading outlets leading up to the event — we rallied the community around this important cause.
